PUMA Kenpo is street self-defense and trains students to become better, stronger, more confident people using the powerful system called Kenpo. PUMA Kenpo will customize a program for you using Kenpo, Judo, Sambo, Escrima, and Jujitsu to build your body, train your mind, and revitalize your spirit.
Is your location strictly for adults, or can kids participate as well?
The practice of martial arts is supposed to advocate and be about longevity. This deal is intended more for adults. Mature kids over 10 years old that are really looking for something different to get into are welcome. This is challenging mentally and physically and rewarding on the same levels.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
PUMA Kenpo is devoted to maintaining the integrity of martial arts practice and to those that handed it down. That is not just found in the curriculum, but in how it is delivered and received. There is no other Kenpo in the DMV like this or an art with this blend. We want to pass this tradition on.
What do you love most about your job?
We love seeing students catch the bug. That's when someone can't get enough and they're hooked. This blend is challenging on many levels. The base is simple. Then spontaneous creativity sets in. At first the mind is overloaded with thoughts. As you train more you have none. That's the goal.
