Between craving a quiet getaway and building your budget for the New Year, your conflicting goals have left you in quite a jam. Fortunately our currant Escape promises to deliver on both accounts: nab a two-night stay, Sundays to Thursdays, at Wildberry Lodge—including a daily three-course breakfast, welcome basket, two handcrafted mugs, and water bottles—between now and April 30, 2012 ($312) or between May 1 and May 30, 2012 ($342).

This luxurious log cabin in the heart of the Smoky Mountains outside Asheville, North Carolina, preserves your sanity with a peaceful place to take in nature's splendor. Dig into a gourmet welcome basket of chocolate-covered strawberries, hot spiced cider, and all the fixings for s'mores in the gorgeous Blueberry, Gooseberry, Strawberry, or Raspberry guest room. Warm up by the massive fireplace in the great room, then bed down beneath cozy blankets and luxury linens on your pillow-top mattress.

In the morning, enjoy a cup of coffee (in one of two handcrafted mugs that are yours to keep) while watching the sunrise from the balcony. Then head downstairs for a gourmet three-course breakfast, featuring organically grown fruit with dishes like lemon pecan pancakes, egg soufflé, strawberry crêpes, and homemade scones with gooseberry chutney.

After breakfast, discover the host of on-site amenities cherry-picked for your pleasure, including hiking trails, a library, a pool table, and an infrared sauna. Then take a drive on the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, stopping at the many farmers' markets, art galleries, and wineries along the way. And if you've never strolled the Biltmore estate, a stop at Asheville's most popular attraction is berry necessary (tickets can be purchased from the lodge).

One taste of Wildberry bliss, and you'll wish you could wander these strawberry fields forever.

  • "The breakfasts were extraordinary and we didn't need anything else until dinner. The inn is a beautiful log cabin, and very well appointed with a wonderful blend of rustic and modern. The great room and fireplace were like home (well, even better!)."
