The Destination
The picturesque town of Dorset, Vermont––ranked among New England's best small towns by Boston Magazine—is not unlike something from a postcard. Quiet, snowy winters draw ski enthusiasts to the powdery slopes at Stratton and Bromley Mountain—and in spring, rolling green hills peppered with wild flowers make it easy to understand why the Lincoln family made a home here. Largely untouched by time, the white clapboard homes and rustic village streets maintain a nostalgic Colonial feel.

The Digs
Old World furniture combined with country décor and working fireplaces lend a colonial charm to theThe Dorset Inn, founded in 1796 and the Green Mountain State's oldest continuously operating inn listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2007, Country Living named this spot Inn of the Month, and Yankee magazine dubbed it the third Best Historic Inn. Country-style breakfasts are served in the sunny garden room, and dinners at the inn's restaurant—recently recognized as one of America's Best Restaurants for Wine Lovers by Wine Spectatorare a pure delight.

  • "Best inn I have ever stayed in. Absolutely fantastic suites, tavern, food, service, atmosphere, location, and spa. Can't say enough about staff and food."
