The Destination
Famous for its Adriatic shoreline and Roman architecture—like the Arco d'Augusto, built by the Romans in 27 BC—Rimini's breathtaking landscape is rife with historic sites and gorgeous beaches. Alternatively, Northern Italy's Lake Garda—the largest lake in the country—plays host to ancient towns, sprawling mountains, and medieval castles. See sides of both that tourists rarely see with a guided cycling trip via the folks from Battaglin USA.

During your getaway, you'll pedal up hills, coast into valleys, climb to mountain peaks, and ride on famous trails—along many of the same routes followed by the Giro d'Italia (a world-class cycling event held annually) as you pass beneath lush olive trees on a scenic ride. You're also welcome to forego the biking portions of the trip and travel as a non-cyclist. All travelers will enjoy a local winery and farm for tastings and an Italian cooking class, too.

Sample Cycling Itinerary for Any Level
Your trip will be tailored to your ability level, and you'll also get to select your own dates for the trip. For additional information, view the detailed sample itinerary and watch this video.

This itinerary is an example. Each cyclist together with Battaglin-USA guides and advisors will build his or her own itinerary depending on skill level, experience, goals, and expectations. Battaglin-USA is able to accommodate any level, from the novice to the seasoned professional.

Arrive in Lake Garda at an nearby airport or train station for a transfer to your luxury accommodations (please contact Battaglin-USA for any questions regarding airport or transportation needs). Settle in for a welcome lunch or dinner at the hotel's signature restaurant before spending the rest of the day at your own leisure—relaxing by the pool, exploring nearby shops, or taking a sunset stroll by the lake. All guests can also use Battaglin USA's city bikes free of charge.
Overnight at a four-star hotel in Lake Garda. Lunch or dinner included.

Day 2: Exploring Lake Garda
Start the day off right with gourmet breakfast prepared by the hotel chef. Then, you'll ease into the trip with your first ride—your mileage and duration will depend on your skill level. The ride is designed to help you get acquainted with the area. After a healthy snack, relax and gather for a review of the day and a briefing on the upcoming itinerary. The meals prepared throughout your stay—including the snacks—focus on the fundamentals of healthy living and include a wide variety of fresh and authentic Italian dishes.

Day 3: Historic Towns & Rolling Hills
After an energizing breakfast, you'll be ready for your second day of riding. Today, you'll get a firsthand look at why the area is called the mecca of cycling—starting with breathtaking roads and rides through picturesque towns. A stop at a favorite local coffee shop for a snack and authentic Italian espresso breaks up the day's trip, and rolling hills with crystal blue water set the backdrop for the way back. In the afternoon, you'll take a train to Rimini for the last half of your cycling trip.

Day 4: Welcome to Rimini
Today you'll experience the famous roads used in so many races throughout the years. Perfectly tailored to your level, this ride offers an experience that most people only see on TV. Based on your personal itinerary, Battaglin USA will choose flat or hillier terrain. Get a peek at historic towns that normally only locals see, and make new friends along the way. After riding through Italy's beautiful backcountry, you'll have dinner and—if there's time—explore the city or try some cycling-related activities.

Day 5: Bella Italia
After three days of cycling, you'll spend today seeing all the things that make cycling in Italy perfect. If you've picked hilly routes, you'll climb some of the famous peaks in the Emilia—Romagna and Lake Garda area. Once you reached the top you can enjoy the view towards Tuscany in the west, the Adriatic Sea in the east or the majestic Alps in north of Lake Garda. Alternatively, there's also a breathtaking route on the coast where can you ride along the harbor and secluded beach. After your day in the saddle and some recovery at the sauna, you'll enjoy a typical Italian dinner prepared with authentic and fresh ingredients.
