The Destination
The beloved stomping ground of luminary authors James Joyce and William Yeats, Dublin's cobbled streets have set the scene for more than a few English-language classics. It's all about atmosphere here, whether you're perched atop a barstool in a dimly lit pub—a frothy pint close at hand—or you're strolling through the illustrious halls of Trinity College, the alma mater of Oscar Wilde.

Two hours north, the once-industrial landscape of Belfast lays claim to its own brand of atmosphere. The birthplace of Van Morrison and the construction site of the Titanic, the capital of Northern Ireland has produced some of the world's most universal cultural touchstones. Today, Frommer's says, "It is a pleasure to wander its narrow lanes, to linger in its historic pubs, and to dine in [its] Michelin-starred restaurants..."

Experience it all—including an intimate concert by none other than The Belfast Cowboy himself, Van Morrison—on this eight-day trip to Ireland from Great Value Vacations.

The Itinerary
day 1: Depart the United States for Dublin.

day 2: Welcome to Ireland! Upon arrival at the airport, make your way to Dublin's Connolly Station by taxi or public bus. Once there, board the two-hour train to Belfast. You'll have time to relax on the train before arriving in Belfast, where you'll check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. You might also consider touring the city on the hop-on/hop/off sightseeing bus, which is included with your package.
Overnight at the Europa Hotel. Breakfast provided.

day 3: Spend today experiencing Northern Ireland's vibrant capital city. The birthplace of the Titanic, Belfast is steeped in culture, plus its compact size makes it easy to get around. It's also teeming with a multitude of stylish bars, gourmet restaurants, trendy clubs, and some of the best shopping in the UK. Also, the city's many parks, gardens, and galleries offer a perfect haven to relax.
Overnight at the Europa Hotel. Breakfast provided.

day 4: It's concert day! Before the show begins, spend the day at leisure. This evening you'll have a Champagne reception and a sumptuous four-course dinner before Van Morrison's "up close and personal" performance. The venue will provide the ideal setting for Van to play the songs you know, in the way he feels he should play them now. Following the concert you can simply retreat to your room or enjoy a nightcap for your final night in Belfast.
Overnight at the Europa Hotel. Breakfast provided.

day 5: After breakfast you'll head for your train to Dublin, enjoying the picturesque villages along the way.
Overnight at the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane or North Star Hotel. Breakfast provided.

day 6: You'll have today free to explore the city at your leisure! At some point, be sure to use your included hop-on/hop-off sightseeing pass to check out the city. Make a point to visit the famous architecture at Trinity College, home of the legendary Book of Kells, then take a walk through St. Stephen's Green or Merrion Square. End your day with a pint at the legendary Temple Bar, a staple of Dublin's nightlife.
Overnight at the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane or North Star Hotel. Breakfast provided.

day 7: Make your last day in Dublin count. Take a tour of the Kilmainham Gaol, a fascinating prison with tons of Irish history, or hop off the sightseeing bus at the Guinness Storehouse.
Overnight at the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane or North Star Hotel. Breakfast provided.

day 8: Your special Irish getaway comes to an end today. In coordination with your departing flight time, make your way to Dublin Airport and begin your journey home.
