This was such a wonderful experience! This is a very small outfit and the owner himself conducted our intimate class, just my husband and I. We arrived early and as we were waiting, we had a wonderful conversation with his wife. He goes through the basic science of glassblowing and how it works, which was very interesting and also gives a background on his education and qualifications. He is very hands-on to ensure you actually leave with a piece of art because glass blowing is not very easy. There are a lot of things you have to do at once and he helps you keep up with everything. Despite how hands-on he was, I still very much felt like I created my piece of art. I would come back over and over and over. Oh! And they have a shop dog named Halle Berry, which was the cherry on top.
Even in the heat of the summer, time spent at Janke is fun and interesting. several years ago I had done the Christmas ornament class and this time my sisters and son did pulled glass flower. Ian Janke did our session and he was interesting and fun and really helpful. Mr Janke was there working in the studio and came over to visit with us. Best time ever. Don't advise young kids as the glass kilns are extremely hot.

If you can stand the heat, DEFINATELY get in this studio! Plan your wardrobe accordingly--bring your sunglasses(no kidding). Awesome experience in a different medium. Every instructor was helpful, informative and super patient. I was lucky to be in a class that had supportive participants who cheered each other on both during failures and successes. They all want you to do well, and you will. 😊
Great time. I was impressed with the owner and staff. It was a great mother and daughter day with special pumpkins to remind us of the fun.
The teacher was very helpful and informative. It was a small class so it was very one on one. We got to do all of it with help of course but it was mainly us.
Wonderful 3-hour course. Took it in summer time, so each person made a flower and s tumbler. It was extremely hot, but that’s expected bc the furnaces were each 2,000 degrees. Super personal class, wonderful teacher, free beverages, and casual atmosphere. Two negatives > The location was a bit hard to find, and you have to go back later to pick up your piece within 90 days of the class. But those things really aren’t important compared to how much fun the class was! I would go again for sure.
