Power's Mansion, AuburnAbout Power's Mansion
When Alfred and Peggy Lee took over Power's Mansion Inn, Wedding & Event Center, the couple had their work cut out for them. The 19th-century Victorian house had fallen into some disrepair, so an extensive overhaul began. They've turned the property into a lovely throwback to its original era, with tapestry-covered queen-anne's chairs, floral rugs, and intricate wood trim in almost every room.
Tucked into the rolling grounds surrounding the mansion sits a gazebo beneath which countless couples have said their "I dos" before their first touchdown dance. In fact, weddings are the staff's specialty. They help couples with the minutiae of planning the big day, including what flowers the bride will clutch in her hands, the design of the wedding cake, as well as housing guests in the mansion's B&B and hosting the reception in the 120-guest ballroom. This meticulous attention to detail and the historical feel of the property has gotten the mansion voted "Best of the Best" by readers of the Auburn Journal from 2006 to 2012.
