About Austin Handmade Arts Market

On the third weekend of every month, a crew of more than 45 local artists gathers at the Austin Handmade Arts Market, located in the Saengurrende Halle, to sell decorative and wearable work. The designers and craftspeople specialize in a multitude of handmade mediums, from woven goods and metalwork to prints and sculptures more complex that Michelangelo’s least successful creation, A Hunk of Marble. Three artists even walk students through the process of making jewelry, pottery, or paintings at the indoor market’s two- to three-hour classes. Like its vendors, the market’s guest DJs and four local musical acts rotate every month, enlivening each weekend with music spun and played live.

The venue changed and the complementary drink was not given to us. But otherwise class was fun and I would do it again. Would love to do more metal work.

Great painting class and instructor! Everyone seemed to have fun, however, there was much more than group painting classes. In addition, there was jewelery making classes, pottery classes, and several art vendors with items for sale. If you have time, it's a great place to check out!

Everyone that I met that ran the class was very upbeat and pleasant. The venue worked out great and we enjoyed the pottery class. We will definitely do more classes with AHAM!

Class time is somewhat short for socializing and developing ideas.
