I would absolutely recommend this academy to anyone who is interested in martial arts. The facility's are very good and clean, and the instructors are brilliant. Four stars!

The black belts and students at Ralph Gracie Berkeley are very friendly, respectful and inviting. They take MMA seriously minus the drama. Both my husband and stepson enjoy going there. I appreciate the attention they provide the kids. When one goofs around, they are quick to get the children back on track like a gentle giant, firm but kind. They act like a father which I can appreciate. As students roll, their attention is on everyone ensuring the move is done correctly. More over, the black belts are hands on rolling with everyone without discrimination nor favoritism.

My 12-year-old son tried the youth class two days in a row, but became discouraged when he didn't receive much instruction at all. He was told to "take down" his opponent, but he'd never been taught any take-downs, and when he asked the instructor "How?" the instructor just said "Take him down!" and then "Don't worry about it. You've got the rest of your life to learn how to do take-downs." Not very good teaching IMHO.
