Good time no deals along the way and zero swag! But it proceeds hopefully went to charity so it's not a loss...and a few asked if we were doing the beer crawl and refused us entry even though we were not drinking or had been drinking for several hours completely fine
There were no drink specials offered by the participating pubs
7 Years ago this was a GREAT beer marathon. This year (2017) it was a poor attempt at organizing a city wide bar tour. What happened to the crowds of people? Even at registration the place was empty.
It's aiight. Could be more organized. Little more information about it too
Essentially I donated $60 to MS (which I don't mind). However, the general admission tickets basically get you a t-shirt and nothing else! Our tickets stated depending on scheduling we would be able to bat in the Red Sox practice bating cage. When we went to participate we were told we couldn't because we didn't have VIP tickets even though the general admission and VIP tickets stated the same thing (in regards to the batting cage). We went to a handful of the bars on the marathon map and gave up because everyone said they were not affiliated with the marathon. One waitress even made a comment that it seems multiple people were tricked into thinking we would recieve discounts at bars that were unaware they were participating in a marathon. Great concept but poorly executed. If I didn't know my money was going towards a good cause I would be more upset. I wouldn't recommend this. Just join a free bar crawl because either way you will be spending the same amount of money on beer and food!
This was a complete sham. I flew up from Florida (not for this event) and wanted to show friends a good time and thought this would be a great experience to start our Boston trip. I pre-ordered the VIP tickets which was to include a food buffet at Game On! and that never happened. Actually, I did not see any food available that was included in my ticket (although I did not complete all the bars on the trip in all fairness so maybe there were some but the 15 I did go to did not have any food available). Also, they said that there would be beer specials which only one bar of 15 actually had beer specials. So, I would never purchase the Boston Beer Marathon tickets in the future. You can save your money and just do the bars on your own and donate the money you would have spent on the ticket and give that portion to charity. Unless you simply want to buy a crappy t-shirt. There was no difference between the "VIP experience" as they falsely claim and the regular admission tickets.
My brothers and I purchased 4 tickets as part of his bachelor party. We went to Game On! to redeem the Vikings helmet and tee shirt and were told that they were there earlier but left already. We were unable to redeem our tickets, receive the helmet, tee shirt, or take advantage of the discounts. It was very unfortunate and a fair amount of money wasted, not to mention the let down during my brothers bachelor party.
very disorganized, bus not limo, bus was never around. no maps,no leadership, disaster.
Very poorly organized! It would have been less expensive and better organized if I just went bar-hopping on my own. Was informed by others participating in the Beer Marathon that the event has declined drastically over the past few years. This was my first Pub Crawl and I left highly disappointed. I feel like my money was taken and the items I was to get in return were not provided.
They say there are specials at the bars....there weren't any specials.
