Thomas McCauley was a restaurant industry vet, the co-owner of the restaurant that gave Bobby Flay his big break. Justine Lynch was looking for waitress gigs to pay the bills. As EdibleBrooklyn detailed in their 2014 profile of the couple, McCauley and Lynch bonded over their shared love of both food and all-natural living. After years of training and research, they've put their holistic know-how to good use as co-owners of Mountain. One part yoga studio, one part alternative medicine clinic, and one part cafe, the space nurtures the lifeforces of its clients through all facets of wellness.
Many visitors congregate in The Apothecary Kitchen, Mountain's monument to healthy eating. There, a full menu of gluten-free baked good, cold-pressed juices, and entrees crafted from locally sourced ingredients turn bad diets good while tasting great along the way. The kitchen also brews a full range of Sightglass coffees, served in a dining area that Eater describes as "an unfussy, minimalist room where customers choose their own adventure."
