We had the mushroom, tropical and california roll maki sushi, and the okonomiyaki appetizer and they were all excellent! Great decor and atomosphere. Very spacious interior. A great place for a good and relaxing meal.

Very fresh shabu , love the seafood combo with sirloin beef and giant shrimp. $1.00 each for oyster is a good deal.

We ordered gyoza and edamame appetizers and shabu for our entree. The service was very attentive - we had water refills multiple times. My son was completely mesmerized by the magnetized conveyor/counter - it must be seen to be believed. The counter runs out of a window in the kitchen and has a moving belt under the surface. Small plates of food march past the table, and you can just take what you like. Some of the plates have nori sushi on them, and some have ingredients for the shabu soup pot. The price corresponds to the plate's color (cabbage and turnip are free). Our table was right next to the conveyor, but others are further away. Everything can be ordered directly off the menu too. I have felt unwell on a couple of occasions after eating at other shabu restaurants, which I have attributed to either excess sodium or msg, but I feel fine after the meal 3 hours ago at Akai Ryu. We had the vegetable broth, and I don't think it was too highly seasoned.
