Past Productions

• Beowulf – A Thousand Years of Baggage (2013): a rowdy, sweat-soaked musical version of the oldest story in the English language
• Prometheus Bound (2011): a tale of political upheaval inspired by a tragedy by Aeschylus and scored by System of Down singer Serj Tankian
• The Donkey Show (every Saturday night): A.R.T. artistic director Diane Paulus’s disco Midsummer Night’s Dream channels the magic of Queen Titania on the dance floor–and audiences are invited to the afterparty.

Where to Sit: depends on what you want to see. Peruse the shows at the Loeb Drama Center for mainstage productions of major shows or black-box experiments, or check out the Oberon stage for emerging artists with a more freewheeling bent.

When to Go: There’s shows running all year round, with matinees on the weekends and only a few dark days per week.

• To feel A.R.T.’s effect on the creative world, you don’t have to be at A.R.T.—or even in Boston. Their A.R.T. in the World program brings their award-winning productions to Broadway stages, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and HBO.
• Theater isn’t just for grownups. Through their Education Experience and Community Connections initiatives, A.R.T. introduces children from public schools and local non-profits to experience drama both from the audience and behind the scenes.
