The Iowa Guide, Cedar RapidsAbout The Iowa Guide
Born and raised in Northwest Iowa, Doug Burns grew up hunting and fishing the wilds of his stomping grounds, eventually going on to compete in the walleye tournament circuit and claiming three first-place finishes. Now known as The Iowa Guide or The Fisherman Formally Known as Doug Burns, he extends his expertise in catching walleye—as well as smallmouth bass, pan fish, northern pike, and even the occasional muskie—to all levels of anglers. Welcoming passengers aboard his 2050 Crestliner Raptor boat, Burns takes them to the many rock reefs, sandbars, and weed beds throughout the Iowa Great Lakes, which comprise Spirit Lake, East Okoboji Lake, West Okoboji Lake, and their connecting waterways.
In addition to tutoring anglers while on the water, Burns shares his wisdom by contributing fishing tactics to Walleye Central. Beyond fishing charters, The Iowa Guide's services also include family packages that combine fishing, lunch, and watersports, such as tubing.
