I attended Nightmare on the Harbor last night and I have also been to other shows you have sponsored such as Big Boi, Steel Pulse, and Girl Talk. I have enjoyed each show and want to continue going to events you manage. LAMFO-Sky DJ performance was excellent but I was extremely disappointed by the management of last night's event. I am requesting a refund with the expectation that I will continue to attend your events because you value your customers and deliver the promises that you have marketed through your promotion campaigns and value your partnership with the Charleston community.
First, we arrived at Patriot's Point at 7:00 and parking services said lots were full but the friends behind us were allowed to go through by paying additional fees which we were also willing to pay however were not offered when we asked for entrance into the paid lot.
Second, we waited the +21 line for over 50 minutes with multiple students younger than 21 who were able to get in at the gate and we didn't get into the show until 8:45. There were not enough employees checking tickets or ID's in ratio to the number of attendees. Also, many of the students crowded the 21 under gates and were allowed to simply push through with or without tickets and we watched as many of them passed there tickets back through the gate to be sold.
Since you knew how many tickets were sold there should have been appropriate door coverage and consistency in your ticket sales and entrance policy. Especially, when it comes to underage drinking and a $5 door charge that many of them didn't pay.
Last, we watched as folks ahead of us were turned away from the beer tent to buy tickets but friends of the bar tenders placed a $20 in the tip jar and were handed drinks without tickets. (I'm not sure if the same could be done for students without wrist bands).
The three of my friends and I had paid for our tickets, waited in long lines and spent a fair amount of money on drinks and really felt disappointed enough by our whole experience that we left after an hour. I liked the show itself and the music but felt the management of the event was extremely poor and the consistency in guest experiences was unfair.
Thank you for your consideration. I'm sure you are aware of the issues of last evening and will continue to seek excellence in your future events within the Charleston community.
