About Chicago Public Schools

The third largest school district in the Unites States, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) operates more than 675 individual schools serving more than 400,000 students every year. It reaches 18% of all the youth attending public schools in the state and serves students from a variety of backgrounds, 87% of whom come from low-income families. CPS aims to provide students with a comprehensive array of math, science, language, and history classes to prepare them for future success. In addition to classroom learning, CPS emphasizes out-of-school initiatives including Keep Kids Learning summer activities and Chicago Book Clubs.

Basically I hoped the money would get to the kids for lunches. I do this because as a child I went hungry. CPS seems to have a poor reputation.

Please make sure the aid gets to the needy children---not to the kids of some connected people who really do not need the help!!!!!!!

I am a retired teacher from the Chicago Public Schools. I never had money budgeted for the supplies I needed. I always had to spend my own money to buy necessities. I feel good to be able to help a little in the department of supplies.

So many fabulous teachers - creative committed and conscientious - however stay focused on kids and continue to work to promote best learning environment for all children which may mean rewarding success with kids rather than years of employment, and altering pay and benefit packages.

CPS is great! It has dedicated teachers that do the best with what limited supplies they have.
