About Fiorentino's Cucina Italiana

Fiorentino's Cucina Italiana's menu brims with rustic soups and house-made pastas that have earned it recognition from several local news outlets, including WTTW’s Check, Please! Tender veal, chicken, and seafood sizzle atop heaping portions of traditional pastas—or gluten-free preparations—paired with Italian wines from small vineyards. Fiorentino's chefs also give occasional Italian cooking demos to share their secrets, digging into topics such as sauce-making.

The restaurant’s exposed-brick walls, artfully worn wooden floors, and tuscan orange and yellow hues capture the ambiance of the Italian countryside. Its outdoor patio brims with blossoming flowers and vines during the spring, and during the winter, a heating system powered by the love of Sicilian grandmothers and soft, piazza-inspired lights keep the space cozy.

We enjoyed grilled seafood appetizer. Braised beef short ribs were excellent. Very nice restaurant.

Calamari appetizer - which can [and should be] ordered grilled is SUPERB. The large, very tender calamari are placed on a bed of fresh small leaf lettuces, small tomatoes in a delightful tart dressing. The short ribs with brussel sprouts [and mashed - though you can order all brussel spriouts if carb-conscious] is a fine dish. Ample amount of boneless short rib with a nice sauce, and the brussel sprouts are still crunchy. The veal dish is excellent as well, with thicker cuts of veal than normally seen at other Italian restaurants. Ample amount of food with takeout containers almost mandatory. Homemade tiramusi is super, but the three-mousse cake with chocolate shavings and large strawberris is also a nice finish. Good wine list, but the Montepulciano served is a great choice.
