Elizabeth was in for it again. She had no idea how the teacher had known she was doodling in the back of class, and she hated seeing her drawings torn up and thrown in the trash. Each day, the teacher tried to stamp that urge out of her, forcing her to stop drawing and work on arithmetic or sentence structure. But with each drawing destroyed, new ones emerged from Elizabeth's hands, with no hint that years later she would turn transform her thesis for her Boston University MFA in graphic design into an original entrepreneurship called The PaperDoll Store.

Her passion for all things fashion and graphic led to the unifying thread in all of Elizabeth’s products: let the customer accessorize everything. Each of Elizabeth’s illustrations on her stationery or cards can be personalized, from the skirts and handbags of figures mingling on an invite to the way an illustrated bride is dressed. Figures can even be made to resemble the invited guests or to send subliminal messages about who the bets are on to catch the bouquet at a wedding. For even more custom realism, digital photo cards send well-wishes to loved ones with a portrait of a child, siblings, or entire family that customers upload and personalize themselves.
