About Windward Boardshop

When Windward Boardshop was founded in 1982, the store's focus was primarily on the waters of Lake Michigan. The sport of choice was windsurfing—well-suited to Chicago's many windy days—but it wouldn't remain the shop's only sport for very long. Soon, venues such as snowy mountain pistes and the city's own streets came into the fold with the fast-growing sports of snowboarding, skateboarding, and longboarding, and the shop's inventory of gear expanded to include apparel and equipment for each of these extreme pastimes. In keeping with its aquatic roots, the shop also offers a selection of stand-up paddleboards and related accessories. A team of knowledgeable salespeople helps customers select the right gear for their sport.
