About Drake Planetarium & Science Center

The Drake Planetarium & Science Center captivates young minds with educational shows as well as after-school programs that teach creative problem solving and teamwork. Planetarium shows cover a wide range of topics and teach audiences to recognize seasonally changing constellations, planets, lunar foliage, and other celestial events. Starry Nights at Drake Planetarium invites stargazers to peep into the universe through the facility's powerful projectors or highly-magnified monocles, and laser light shows also grace the planetarium dome with a full-color, full-dome, laser abstract animations choreographed to classic rock, country, pop, and holiday-themed recordings.

This is a small venue so it is intimate. The visuals were good but the sound system was a weak point for the program. If you like laser light shows you will like this one.

We weren't sure where to go when we pulled up. It's the building on the far left of the school campus. They have signs but they're small and hard to spot if you don't know to look for them. Overall, the experience was a lot of fun. It's something different to do at a great price.

Planetarium is located inside the high school building, but there is NO sign of any kind telling you that. GPS sent me to the football field next to the school. I had to call to figure out where we were supposed to "report". Other than that we had a good time. Lazer show was pretty lame according to all 3 kids I brought in, but we all loved the educational part before the show.

It's in Norwood High School. It's a little weird at first and you kinda feel like a giant, but you just have to embrace it.

It was a fun event as something differnt to do. As a tip we took younger kids to one that they really did not know the music if I were to do it again I would pick something that they are familiar with to really hold their attention. It was worth the money of the ticket.
