In an effort to provide eco-friendly transportation and deter drunk driving on the Southern Methodist University campus, a group of SMU grads decided to try something new: pedicabs. These bicycle-powered, open-air cabs only use the energy of their college-aged drivers to shuttle riders throughout the city, whether it be to and from the bars on a Friday night or through the Dallas Arts District on a romantic ride. They've even been known to take on odd jobs, sometimes taking riders apartment hunting, tricking out cabs in Just Married signs and streamers for newlyweds, or cruising past all the manholes Mr. Magoo has fallen into. Patrons may book rides or special events by calling the company’s office or flagging down one of the neon-green-shirted drivers along their regular routes.
