After a serious car accident left her with debilitating neck, shoulder, and back injuries, Laurie Beck searched for a way to ease her pain. She found reprieve in Joseph Pilates's marriage of Zen Buddhism, anatomy, and the Greek philosophies of mind, body, and spirit. Later, the practice helped her fight a tough and ultimately victorious battle with lymphoma and leukemia.
