Q&A with Tracy Baker, Owner
Apart from your business's main attraction, do you offer any "hidden" services or activities that visitors are always delighted to learn about?
[We're the] home of the nationally ranked Valley Elite All Stars competitive cheer team. In 2014, the Valley Elite Twizzlers (youth level 2) team placed 10th in the country, the Red Hots (junior level 4) ranked in the top 16 in the Country, and Big Red (senior level 5 worlds team) hit a perfect routine at the 2014 Cheerleading Worlds.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
Working with children to teach them the importance of sportsmanship, camaraderie, goal setting, motivation, following directions, healthy living, and, most importantly, teamwork has been my passion since I started Valley Athletics and Valley Elite All Stars in 2007.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Working with the children and watching them grow to be amazing, successful adults.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Valley Athletics is the first athletic center in the Lehigh Valley/Easton area and is home to the Valley Elite All Stars. Our mission is to grow and develop all children to their fullest potential. Our main goal has [been] and always will be to bring fitness, tumbling, cheer, and fun to boys and girls of all ages and skill levels, [and to help them] gain confidence and self-worth on and off the mat.
Valley Athletics is the home base of The Elite Valley All-Stars, an award-winning competitive cheer team—partially because the coaches take the "team" part of the sport so seriously. Outside of their rigorous practices, they host myriad team-building events for their athletes, such as sleepovers, picnics, and holiday parties more fun than just holding a human pyramid until Christmas is over. Their emphasis on physical skills and social skills extends to their programs in gymnastics and tumbling, too, as well as their summer camps. While the camps feature trampoline jumping and other athletic play, the counselors also encourage campers to make new friends while they're there.
