Really different, like a Japanese fusion tapias restaurant. Dishes are all made to order and top quality and presentation. Reservations suggested and this is not a place to go if you don't have time for a leisurely meal experience. Your patience will be rewarded

The food at Raku Plus Restaurant is great. Understandably, the place gets crowded due to loyal customers or new ones. However, it would be great to have somebody show the guests to a table or the bar instead of letting them stand by the door. Don't let the guest wait for more than 20 mins before offering them something to drink. As my friend have said when we went there, we are slow eaters and big tippers. We loved the experience eating there but service could have been better by paying a little bit more attention to other guests as opposed to bigger parties (yes there was a big party at that time we went). Also, if it is possible, make the wait time shorter. It turns people away when they have to wait for more than 2hrs with a kid in tow.

Everything I tried was delicious...esp the eggplant w miso. Hours of operation are difficult...open at 6 p.m.until late/closed Tues. Getting to downtown LA is challenge.

As long as you don't go there expecting haute Japanese cuisine. This is proletarian Izakaya type food.

Dishes are very tasty...you get the experience of several dishes in smaller portions which is very satisfying. The variety of dishes available is phenominal. Recommend highly...kitchen is very efficient for having to prepare the numerous dishes.

Great food. Service could be better. Waitress left our food and then never came back. We had to actively get her attention to finally get our check. Probably would have ordered more or dessert if she had been around.

When we go to Raku Plus we seem to always be the only non-Asians in the room. And we go there quite often. I don't understand this though because the menu is in English and there is a hand-written "Specials" board that they bring to the table (also in English) and they also offer a PICTURE MENU (yes, it's in English too) showing all the most popular dishes AND there is a Top Ten card on every table - describing their ten most popular dishes. And all the wait staff speak and understand English perfectly. The food is top rung and wonderfully fresh and well-presented. The place is casual and friendly and full of a very positive vibe. You cannot go wrong with their Miso Cod, Fried Tofu or Eggplant with Miso - we order those every time. We also love the Deep-Fried Sardine with Plum Paste and Shiso Leaf. Two nights ago we tried Fried Lotus Root stuffed with Ground Chicken from the Specials Menus - it was spectacular. They also offer several wonderful Pork Belly (what can I say, I like Pork Belly!) dishes from the Specials Menu and they are all very well-made and delicious and range from Fried to Grilled. There are dozens and dozens of things to try there. It is a tapas-like experience where you order lots of little Japanese/PanAsian dishes - it's great fun! (And they serve beer and wine.) If you want to read the menu beforehand - and it might help since you will be a little more familiar with their many, many selections - go here: https://sites.google.com/site/izakayarakuplus/menu
