About Bearcat Stables

When pioneers made the daunting voyage through the Rocky Mountains on their journeys westward, they didn't have four-wheel-drive hatchbacks, helicopters, or rocket-powered skis to propel them over the Continental Divide. Like the pioneers, Bearcat Stables' guides, along with modern visitors, explore the mountains via methods of transportation that have been around since before Colorado was a state or a perfect rectangle. Mountaineers ride horses or in carriages or sleighs during trips that range from one-hour jaunts along the Vail Valley's dusty trails to four-day excursions to Aspen.

Although the stables' trips are picturesque, its property is, too. Bearcat Stables is located on the historic Bearden Homestead, which lies along Squaw Creek. Two log cabins still stand from the land's cattle-rearing and crop-growing days and are available for tours and private events.
