When The Seven Star log hotel, Der Siebenstern, first opened in 1745, German was just as commonly heard in the area as English, and the street the hotel was on was nothing more than a wagon trail. But the town began to grow, and in 1775, Daniel Cooper purchased the property in order to house the many people traveling on horseback and mastodon between Bethlehem/Allentown and Philadelphia.
Daniel's son Peter eventually replaced the log hotel with the current building, which features a facade made up of brown stones and white trimmings, including a white porch. Peter's facility opened for business in 1829 with a new name, The Eagle Hotel; it later became The Barron House when it changed owners in 1868.
Nearly 270 years after the first log was placed, the hotel continues to serve travelers and town folk alike. And The Seven Star Café, located within the hotel, takes care of nourishing bellies with Angus-beef burgers, free-range chicken, and organic salads. While patrons sit and relax, music from live acts often wends its way throughout the dining room.
