Q&A with Zack Johnson, Owner, Founder

What sets your business apart from your competition?

We are the only facility of our kind that offers fun weekend overnight events for middle- and high-school video-game enthusiasts. We are also [an] eSports tournament facility.

What was the inspiration for starting this business?

Zack Johnson, started this business after holding lock-in events at his church while he was the youth director. He decided it would be easier to set up the equipment somewhere permanently and charge by the hour for use. All of the stores feature lock-ins every single Friday and Saturday night, and there are major events every holiday.

What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer?

Parents are continuously thankful for creating such a family-friendly place to leave their kids, and the kids never want to leave.

What’s your favorite part about your job?

We love getting to know all of our gamers, both young and old. It is also great to watch situations like a college football lineman sit down next to a small, shy, high-school freshman and instantly they have a bond through the game they are playing together.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

Many people ask why they would play at our facility when they own the games at home. We always explain that it is the social aspect that draws customers to us, not just the number of systems and games we offer. Instead of playing alone in your bedroom or basement with a headset, you can sit next to friends both old and new and give them a high five at the end of a game.

It would be better for older kids. I took 6 eight year olds. They wanted to change games often which is typical for this age. I didn't think that was very welcomed. The staff wasn't to fond of the little guys, escpically that girl worker.
