I took about 1.5 for tour and grounds. We enjoyed this small bit of Virginia history.

We wanted to take a short midday triples than 50 miles from our home. Took the Jamestown Ferry over to Smith's Fort and Plantation. Nice guided tour of the house. Walked through the gardens and down to the fort sight (might have been about 1mile round trip). If driving to the fort site it is a dirt road. We drove into Surry for lunch.

Great place, excellent guide. Beware spiders in the basement! Not their fault, but I hate spiders :)
