About Sub Shoppe

The Sub Shoppe, a neighborhood staple since 1973, refuels its visitors with New York–deli-style sandwiches, salads, and soups of the day. The inconspicuous shop, located within walking distance of Evergreen Lake, also specializes in hot, made-to-order sandwiches, perfect for warming up on a cold day or after getting stuck in a freezer during a game of hide-and-seek. The Franklins french dip, for instance, is piled high with roast beef and melted cheese, slathered in spicy mustard, and sidles up next to a side of au jus for dipping. In the morning, visitors can also bite into breakfast-friendly creations, including a burrito packed with eggs and potatoes.

The food was good, but the service was not so good. On a Saturday at lunchtime, there was only one person working. She had to take the orders, and then make all the food. We ordered hot sandwiches and a breakfast burrito, and in the 10 minutes it took to make it all, 3 customers walked out because they waited and did not even get orders taken. Not sure if it is always like this, but I know they have been in business a long time, so I can't imagine it is. Also, they have a digital menu right there where you order, and online, that says they do made to order omelets all day. So we ordered one, and she said they don't have that on the menu and that menu is old! Update your menu, please.

I was expecting a better sub especially for the price. Needs better bread and larger portion.

We had the worst experience on Sunday. You were out of coleslaw, salami, and coke. When asking what other sides you had the girl said just chips?? We ordered a sandwich that wasn't made with 1/2 the items it said it was suppose to have (horseradish sauce, spicy mustard and onion....when asking for horseradish the girl didn't even know what it was.... The young girls were inexperience, rude, and wearing clothes that would break any health code violation with armpits showing.... The restaurant was a mess. The presentation of the sandwiches was terrible. We have lived up in the Mountain community for 20 years and thought we would give you a try, but never again....

The sandwich I had tasted nice. I especially liked the clover sprouts. My recommendation would be to see the attendant wearing gloves in both hands while he handled the meat, and other ingredients. I the middle of preparation he answered the phone and proceeded with the monetary transaction at check out wearing the same (one) glove. I was not pleased with that at all.
