About Dayton Lane Historic Area

Historic Dayton Lane creates a portal in time to the early 1900s. On the tours, visitors can see inside over eight grand homes of Dayton Lane and Campbell Avenue built by Hamilton's prominent industrial barons in the mid 1800s through 1920. The neighborhood contains a total of 210 historic structures in a variety of architectural styles including Georgian Revival, Italianate, and Queen Anne. Amid the picturesque homes, meanwhile, high wheelers ride their old-fashioned bicycles while demonstrators in period dress walk the street for a truly authentic experience.

Fun to learn about the history of this area of town. Thanks to the home owners for opening up their homes and sharing their stories.

The homeowners were welcoming, dressed (the majority) in period dress, had sweet treats available, their homes immaculate! The 5 piece band was absolutely spectacular. Great musicians, all. The gentleman riding around on the penny farthing was an absolute joy to speak with. Extremely friendly and added ambiance beyond measure. We did not ride the horse drawn carriage, but the huge animals providing the muscles were stellar percherons, I think.

We had a great time. Wonderful to be able to see the beautiful old homes. I especially loved seeing those original fireplaces, floors and woodwork. Gorgeous stained glass too. So thankful these homeowners allowed us into their homes. Very generous of them.
