Annefield Vineyards, SaxeAbout Annefield Vineyards
The grounds of Annefield Vineyards seem perfect for grape-growing. Charlotte County's hot summer months and mild winters form the ideal climate, while the 500-foot elevation surrounds grape vines in crisp air and excellent soil drainage. Still, the team here leaves nothing to the chance. They've carefully selected seven grape varieties, including cabernet franc—a black-skinned French grape—and pinot gris—a pink-skinned version of the classic pinot noir. Along with specific soil types, this translates into a changing selection of red, white, and rose wines. Annefield Vineyards sends those varieties to local restaurants, across the country via internet ordering, and to their own tasting room. The latter occupies an old Italian villa-style home surrounded by gardens and oak trees.
