There's just something about the German vehicle that breeds rabid enthusiasm and inspires "I Love My VW" bumper stickers. For those who've appointed their Volkswagen as sole inheritor in their will, or those who just want to camp out by the water while enjoying live music, food, drinks, and celebrity appearances, the first annual Volk Swaggin on the Lake festival brings a weekend of joy and relaxation to Sycamore Bend Park. Once campers pitch their tents on Friday, they're ready to feast upon Saturday and Sunday's buffet of entertainment. Saturday features a Q&A with former Dallas Cowboy Cory Procter, who tackles questions about his NFL days and his love of heavy metal music. The rest of the day is filled with a variety of acts, including Cathy & Co's belly dancing, fiddle champion Aaron Mingus, classic rockers Dusty Vinyl, and the Led Zeppelin cover band Swan Song. Sunday brings the VW-only car show, in which aficionados gander at various Volkswagen makes and models before a panel of judges awards the prime picks of the lot.
