In 1901, John Shelton took his first job: working at a local dry-cleaning business. That proved to be a fateful step for both him and for future generations of his family. It turned out that John had a knack for the business, and so he opened his own stores. Then John's son inherited those stores, and further revised the business model. He developed a single-price dry-cleaning model, offering one price point for any item that customers brought in. That methodology has proven popular—from San Diego, where the Shelton family founded their business, to Houston, Indianapolis, and beyond.
