Longtime fisherman. Looking to try my hand at fly fishing. The instructors at Great Feathers were excellent teachers. I learned a lot about how to select the right set up for the waters you are fishing. Wearing muted colors. Being stealthy in the stream. A basic understanding of the various types of fly patterns. And finally. We spent an hour learning how to cast the fly rod. A+

Owner & staff were very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. They provide excellent instruction with a personal touch. Shop provides a wide range of services, supplies & equipment. I am returning for more lessons and advice. I plan to make this my home base for fly fishing.

I had an outstanding experience with Great Feathers! Mike Watriss the shop owner was fantastic to deal with. He gave an hour presentation on all things fly fishing and I walked away with more info than I knew what to do with. casting lesson with "Coach" was very informative and I learned some new things. Coach kept the lesson very simple and straight forward. I definitely walked away as a better fly rod caster. I would highly recommend that if your in the greater Baltimore region you look these guys up! Gregg

Really a great experience. The shop is authentic and has everything that you can imagine. The owner was wonderful and "coach" who led the actual field casting was one of the best instructors of my sporting life bar none. I went what a family friend who is an accomplished fisherman and wanted to learn to cast fly's and I also brought my 15 year old daughter as well. So the experience was wonderful for every level.
