The live-fire portion of New Jersey Firearms Academy's training takes place at local indoor and outdoor ranges.

NRA-certified instructor Lateif Dickerson gladly shares his firearms expertise for both the real and theoretical world, which led Michio Kaku to seek his insight for Discovery Channel's Sci Fi Science. When not contemplating the possibility of Star Wars-caliber firepower, Lateif leads classes in both armed and unarmed self-defense for beginner through advanced students at New Jersey Firearms Academy. He and his team also extend their courses to specialty topics, such as First Aid in the wilderness. Beyond civilian training, Lateif instructs law-enforcement and security personnel with programs such as SORA and K-9 training. The academy also houses a shop stocked with firearms gear.

The morning range session was better than great, the instructors were patient and extremely informative with details of what to expect when in the range. Despite the COVID-19 madness, all safety precautions and class size was met.
The classroom training with Latief and Kumar provided in dept firearm history, laws, and responsibilities of owning a gun. I would definitely recommend NJFA.

Great course! Educational and fun. The instructor is great. All of his colleagues are kind and very patient, especially with absolute beginners. I felt very safe while I was there which was a huge plus! I’m definitely coming back to take more training.

Excellent! The class was well planned and taught. The staff provided detailed explanation combined with hands on demonstration. For any first time shooter i would highly recommend this class.

Make sure when you get in you ask for the firearm academy when entering or they'll try to charge you. Other than the confusion of which company (they rent a space inside) everything was great. Wonderful instructor and straight to the point after watching a video.
