Perfunctory massage. Better than a poke in the eye, though.

When booking the massage I discussed with the scheduling staff whether a hot stone massage would be appropriate for a pregnant woman in her 3rd trimester, which they said it would. I confirmed with my midwife as well that this would be ok. The appointment was cancelled due to the therapist having the flu and rescheduled (apparently they only have 1 therapist who knows the stones). When I arrived for my appointment the therapist said he did not feel comfortable giving me a hot stone massage because I was pregnant. I told him I understood his concern and would accept whatever massage he was willing to give me. He performed a little bit of hot stone work with regular massage which was fine. His massage techniques were ok, but not great (definitely had better from folks who are not LMTs). I believe this therapist could use a refresher on how to tuck the sheets so a girl feels comfortable - I felt exposed a couple of times, especially while working on my glutes. The massage felt very short to me, but I didn't protest. I got dressed, paid a tip to the front desk and went to the bathroom. When I was done washing my hands, I looked at the time. Only then had it been the official 60 minutes that the massage was supposed to take. I'm guessing that he only worked on me for about 40 minutes total, including the discussion at the beginning and my getting undressed. I would never pay $90 for that short of time and that mediocre of a massage. My thought is that he was very worried about the massage’s affect on the pregnancy. If he was that worried about it, he could have said we would need to reschedule when I wasn’t pregnant. I don’t plan to go back to this establishment.
