Hal Kaplan lived every child’s dream: his parents owned a toy store. No ordinary toy store proprietors, Hal’s parents, Leon and Renee Kaplan, were adamant about searching the globe for toys that promoted learning through play, a concept that continues on at Kaplan Early Learning Company to this day. The Kaplans discovered toys that approached learning from three angles: cognitive, physical, and social-emotional. With these products in hand, tots could play to their heart’s content as their brains absorbed knowledge in areas such as science, math, music, and the arts. Today, from a 350,000-square-foot distribution center, Kaplan dispatches thousands of toys and educational materials, which range from blocks to costumes to baby’s first ergonomic baby jogger.
