At first, the culinary artisans of Baked Goods by AJ's Haven were baking for themselves. They deserved a treat. AJ's Haven was founded to help survivors of domestic violence by helping them find housing and other services. The organization first held baking sessions as a sort of creative therapy, then realized that the bakers' skills were such that they could help raise funds for the organization. Today, the bakery specializes in using natural and organic ingredients, including gluten-free and diabetic-friendly items. From a licensed kitchen space, their classic Southern pies, fruit-sweetened breads, cookies, and other sweets go to outlets such as Camden City Market.
