About Astoria Tour de Bar

The first annual Astoria Tour de Bar disembarks from Katch Astoria, where guests are kitted out with the wristband, backpack and visor that will carry them through the night. Their destinations: more than 20 bars in the Queens neighborhood serving cocktail specials, artisan snacks, craft beer (including Blue Point), and locally distilled spirits from Queens Courage. The sites include Ovelia, Bourbon and Vine, William Hallet, Mexi BBQ, Rapture, The Quays Pub, Blackbird's, and Gilbey's Tavern, among others, while the specials include free BBQ, powerful German brews, delicious craft beer, wine and white sangria, and a taste of Queens Courage Gin. Throughout the day, guests compete in scavenger hunts and other games and vie for such prizes as a mixology basket. Plus, it's all for charity, benefiting the Childhood Cancer Society.

Map could have been a bit more organized and color coded. Some of the bars were quite understaffed. It was a Sunday afternoon and I think they got more people than expected, especially on 30th Avenue where a majority of the places were.

The deals at the bars were not anything special. On top of the entry fee plus drinks and food it was not a good deal.

I don't feel the $15 admission payed for anything. I was looking forward to all the places being close by to one another. Never again.
