What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?

We offer beginner friendly dance-based classes like Zumba, Hip Hop, Pilates, Buns & Guns (a crowd favorite) and many more. From a practical standpoint, we stand out for the number and variety of classes we offer. But what truly sets us apart are the genuine emotional connections we make with our students. The sense of community those relationships foster has inspired people to stick with M Dance for 5, 6 even 7years. In the fitness world, that’s pretty amazing.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?

Dance is a great way for anyone to stay fit, release stress and have FUN. NYC probably has more dance classes for professionals/aspiring professionals than anywhere in the world, but especially back in 2010, there weren’t any classes for absolute beginners or people who grew up dancing but only wanted to do it for “fun” as adults.Now, they can all come to M Dance and feel like they fit in.

What do you love most about your job?

I am humbled and inspired every day by the character of our instructors and students. The dedication and professionalism of every instructor layered with the kindness and mutual respect students show each other make this a community in every sense of the word.

What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?

Of course, people lose weight, feel healthier, stronger and more energized, but you can (theoretically, anyway) get those results anywhere. The best reactions are the more personal ones specific to M Dance -- feeling welcome, not feeling intimidated, having fun, feeling like “more than a body in the room,” feeling “heard” and finding a community. In this fast-paced, competitive, sometimes isolating city, M Dance is a place where you can get fit, have fun doing it and feel appreciated and connected. Win. Win. WIN!
