The owner greeted me cheerfully, explained the menu, and made suggestions. He gets an A+ - and so does the food. The restaurant was attractive and clean.

I would suggest remaking your menu so that it is clearer (better descriptions and categories).

This is what I imagine Ethiopian comfort food would be like. Everything I ordered was wonderful, but if you're not used to eating goat, the rustic cuts with connective tissue, fat, and bone might be off-putting.

not having eaten etheopian food before, we asked the proprietor for suggestions. he was helpful and very gracious. however, being vegetarian that meant eliminating nearly all of menu items which may have revealed the true etheopian cuisine.

The area is a little sketchy but the owner is very nice and the food is fantastic.

The food was good but heavy on the bread. We would have preferred more veggies and less bread particularly with the Ethiopian veggie platter. The only other Ethiopian we have eaten is Abyssinia which gives larger portions of veggies that are slightly more flavorful but also considerably more oily/greasy. I love the taste of the veggies at Abyssinia; however it almost always upsets my stomach. We had no tummy troubles following our visit to Derae. Also, the house made hot sauce was very good. I will recommend to friends.
