About Milwaukee German Fest

Break out the lederhosen, polish your stein, and track down your fanciest sausage-eating bib because German Fest Milwaukee is just around the corner. Now in its 39th year, the annual celebration honors Deutschland and all of its descendants with a three-day party filled with authentic food, music, and activities. Freshly grilled brats from Usinger's are prepared along with other Bavarian items like schnitzel and goulash, all of which wash down nicely with gulps of Leinenkugel and other spirited beverages. However, the fest is about more than just feasting. Enjoy watching the top lumberjack athletes in the country in chopping and sawing competitions in the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS U.S. Pro & Collegiate Championships before cheering on your favorite wiener at the dachshund derby or scoping out traditional song and dance performances by local groups. Throughout the weekend, vendors will showcase everything from nutcrackers to German costumes in the marktplatz.
