About Conde Charlotte Museum House

The five flags in front of the Condé-Charlotte Museum House represent Mobile’s tumultuous history under the rule of five countries: France, Spain, Britain, the United States, and the Confederate States. Within the house, visitors can see antique furnishing that correspond to each of these periods in time, with a different theme in each room—for example, the British room holds antiques from 1763–1780, when the British occupied the city. The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Alabama run the house and operate its tours, which traverse both inside and the outdoor, Spanish-themed garden.

Kathy, our tour guide, was wonderful! As a retired high school history teacher, she did an amazing job of mixing historical information and antidotes. What a delightful piece of Mobile history.

This museum is outstanding and our guide, Kim, was amazing. So much incredible history and artifacts. I also like that they kept their tour groups small. Highly recommend!

Excellent tour guides! Very knowledgeable and answered all questions. The only other thing I have to say is it is not handicap accessible so I was not able to tour the upstairs. My friend who is with me took a lot of pictures so I did get to see what was up there.
