About Corsair Artisan

Corsair Artisan is a proud producer of handcrafted, small-batch, ultra-premium spirits. It boasts two locations, including an original distillery in Bowling Green and a "brewstillery" in Nashville. At the latter, Corsair runs an award-winning malt whiskey program and churns out batches of high-gravity beer. The company's story is a rabbit hole of interesting facts—here are some more things to know about it:

  • The men behind the whiskey: Childhood friends Darek Bell and Andrew Webber started off home-brewing beer and wine in Darek's garage. After a failed foray in that industry, they switched gears and found their groove with spirits.

  • Endless experimentation: Darek and Andrew are constantly trying new (and sometimes peculiar) recipes. They already make their whiskeys with grains such as quinoa, buckwheat, and amaranth, but their willingness to play with ingredients has also produced such concoctions as pumpkin spice moonshine and an award-winning oatmeal stout whiskey.

  • Recognition: Corsair's innovative spirits have been recognized in press outlets all over the country, including Food and Wine, Whisky Magazine, and even Maxim. The company has also claimed more than 40 awards, including three gold medals at Wizards of Whiskey in 2014.

  • About the Nashville facility: It's in a historic building that was once the home of Yazoo Brewing, in the Marathon Motorworks Village. The facility features a 240-gallon still built in 1920—originally a gin still, this classic pot survived Prohibition simply by wearing a fake mustache around town.

Very whiskey heavy sampling so be prepared if you are not a whiskey fan or are expecting more of a beer sampling. We only had one beer sample, 3 whiskey and 1 gin.

Beware...the online site may tell you there are a large # of slots available, so you decide to wait about reserving...dont wait. This is a VERY popular Nashville tour. I ve taken guests there 3 times and they re ALWAYS full. I love the small nature/personal touch and always imagine drunk cows when they talk about passing the spent grain on to the farmers ...I love the full circle, tho. I m not a beer drinker and I was impressed by their beer; my favorite cocktail *made w jalapeno* has been dropped from the menu but I suggest trying one of their unique cocktails.

It was a great experience and would love to go again. Great beer and whiskey from a creative brewery/distillery. In the same building as antique archeology from American pickers as well. Go if you are in Nashville!
