About Cajun-Creole Queen
With its maiden voyage held a mere 30 years ago, the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen seems to break the rules of time. From its outside, the vessel looks straight out of the 1800s. A giant, 24-foot paddle wheel propels the boat up and down the Mississippi River, and its soft lighting, wrought-iron trim, and Victorian-style draperies call to mind a bygone era. Look past those features, however, and you find modern equipment. Air conditioning and heating keep things comfortable, while a fuel-efficient, diesel-electric engine would make a steam-powered vessel scream like a tea kettle with envy.
Once that engine churns to life, the paddle wheeler can take more than 800 passengers at a time on two types of tours. A Creole buffet and live music take over the interior dining rooms during the Dinner Jazz Cruise. The Chalmette Battlefield River Cruise, on the other hand, focuses on history, with the captain spinning tails of local landmarks and key events, and the passengers disembarking to explore the historic site of the 1815 Battle of New Orleans.Recommended For You

Amazing experience! Do the dinner one, it’s totally worth it. Get there at 6pm to board, so you get a good table.

My 3.5 yr old and I enjoyed this very much. The Nola night lights lighten up the be beautiful scenery back to land. Food was good and the live band was the perfect touch. Highly recommend as a to do. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The dinner cruise was delightful and the menu was very good; loved the brisket and red mashed potatoes. Going up top to listen to the live music and see the views along the Mississippi was spectacular.

Our family took the evening, jazz cruise, and it was wonderful. The music was fantastic, exactly what you’d want to hear cruising on the Mississippi in New Orleans and the food was wonderful too. We saw a lot of reviews that you could get better food in other places in the city.I think that just depends on whether you’re looking for a specific dish that might not be offered, becauseThe quality and selection was wonderful so I would highly recommend adding a meal instead of trying to rush through a meal before cruising or find a place to eat afterwards. For us, we were able to have a great meal and a relaxing environment, then head to the upper deck and see the city lights as we cruise down the river. Then once we docked, we grabbed the trolley to Café Du Monde for coffee and beignets. And last but not least, the crew on board are some of the friendliest people you’ll find in New Orleans. We will definitely take this cruise again the next time we’re in New Orleans.
