About Citi Bike

Citi Bike, operated by NYC Bike Share, LLC, is New York City’s new bike share system that was introduced on Memorial Day in 2013. New Yorkers and visitors have already taken more than 5 million trips to countless places on its 6000 bikes. Pop over to Midtown to gaze at Rockefeller Center's tree or Macy's holiday window displays. Sail down West Side Greenway to take in river views. Ride over the Brooklyn Bridge to explore Dumbo. Time Out New York also has recommended Citi Bike adventures. In reality, the bike-share program's options are endless, thanks to its 332 stations scattered every few blocks throughout Manhattan below 59th Street and in Brooklyn neighborhoods including Williamsburg, Clinton Hill, and Brooklyn Heights. Members can enjoy unlimited 30-minute rides between the stations on sturdy, comfortable bikes that have been designed for city riding—front and rear LED lights keep the bike visible and bikers sit on foam-paddle saddles.

For added convenience, the Citi Bike app helps riders find nearby stations and plan their routes, rather than just telling them to follow the most confident-looking biker in sight. And speaking of confident bikers, Citi Bike's web site also has a comprehensive riding tips page to highlight how to stay safe and how to be smart, savvy bicyclist. For inspiration on where to ride, check out these itineraries.

It's so amazing!!! These bikes have taken us all over the city! Downside is that one must re-dock the bike every 30 minutes or get charged. :(

touch screens are kind of hard to use. You almost have to punch the screen

It's a bit convoluted to get done but once you get the knack it's good.

When we tried to use it, they would not take the voucher. Very disappointing.

Citibikes are a great idea and I really want to support them but they have too many flaws and bugs to make them a viable transportation option. In addition to bikes stuck in stalls or not fitting back properly, having my card charged when it shouldn't be without getting a bike and other glitches, the 30-minute time limit between stations is just stressful. It should be at least 45.

Very often unable to get a bike after wasting 5 or so minutes entering information. "Your pass could not be processed at this time" is often the message. Bikes are rarely available and working in FiDI where I live and work.

In popular places in Brooklyn like Dumbo area, you cannot find docks to park the bike so you will likely go extra minutes to park. The bike is way too heavy. Citibike customer service promised refund for extra charge but never follow through, horrible experience, won't be using citibike anytime soon.

Great idea, but horrible implementation! The codes wouldn't work and we wasted quite a bit of time just re-swiping the credit cards after 2 mins to try 4-5 times... No more citi bikes!

Not enough restocking and movement of bikes. No stations above 59th st, seriously? Too many steps to get the bike.
