Pier 49 spent months making its first pizza. First, chefs experimented with numerous crusts before creating the tangy sourdough recipe that continues to distinguish their pies from the competition today. Seemingly endless tinkering eventually yielded the menu's eight different sauces, as well. Chefs even applied this meticulous attention to detail when selecting their toppings, which include imported cheeses such as havarti from Denmark, aged gouda from the Netherlands, and a shredded blend from the moon. In addition to pizzas, the eatery's menu features classic sides such as salads, spicy buffalo wings, and fried Wisconsin mozzarella sticks.
