American Walks specializes in Chicago Walking Tours that cover both iconic sites and little-known gems. After years of working for other people, the owners, with their combined 35 years of experience, decided to combine their passion for Chicago's history, food, and drinks to start their business. Each tour shares a glimpse into the neighborhood's culture and history, with insider tips along the way. Tours are family-friendly, aside from those with alcohol, which are all 21 and over. Food is included on the food tours, and your food & beverages are both included on the drinking tours. ​

Additionally, American Walks offers seasonal outings, as well as private tours for six or more guests. Spooky, Halloween-themed tours, for one, recount some of the neighborhood's paranormal legends, including tales about lawyer Clarence Darrow's ghost at the Museum of Science and Industry and why it's always doing the jitterbug.
