Metropolitan Golf Links, Oakland
Metropolitan Golf Links, OaklandAbout Metropolitan Golf Links
Golf legends Johnny Miller and Fred Bliss teamed up to design the course at Metropolitan Golf Links, rewarding golfers in the Bay Area with some of the finest public greens and drainage in the area, along with a challenging and fun links-style course. To achieve their vision, Miller and Bliss incorporated the natural contours of the land and covered the terrain with omnipresent sand traps and modern turf hybrids. The result whisks golfers around a labyrinthine layout complete with straightaways, doglegs, and a double dogleg, each made more difficult by occasional winds that blow in from the San Francisco Bay. Metropolitan also boasts a number of environmentally sensitive areas, adding to the beauty and challenge of the course while helping it net the National and overall public 2014 Environmental Leaders in Golf Award, presented by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and Golf Digest.
