About Second State Press

Its expansive facilities stuffed to the gills with Charles Brand and Vandercook printing machines, Second State Press grants the community access to self-stamped art. Members gain access to studio time for rent by the hour, month, or year, as well as invitations to special events, talks, and demos. Additionally, anyone can sign up for one of Second State Press's many beginner-friendly classes. Those especially committed to the craft might be honored with Fob Holder status, which awards 24-hour access in exchange for a few responsibilities around the studio, such as cleaning or finally shredding the newspaper monster lurking in the basement.

I had a fantastic time in quick and dirty screen printing at second state press. Jennifer gave an incredibly clear introduction to screen printing, and i was *very* happy with the print i made. Artists and non-artists were equally welcomed in the class. Only things i would change is to let students know that they can come with a drawing or source image or idea to inspire them for the print. I think this was the part that took the longest, mostly because people needed a few minutes to think about what they wanted to do after the intro.
